Whats better after acrylic nails? Silk wrap or gel?

I have had acrylic on my nails for some time and I want to take it off but I want to keep my nails. If I don't have anything on them they will break off. Some people say that gel is better and some say silk wrap is betterWhats better after acrylic nails? Silk wrap or gel?
